While there are many other classical ballet institutions a rare few are dedicated to a specific classical style with the mission to preserve a specific classical technique while stewarding in a new generation of talent in that same tradition.  Famous for its artistic virtuosity and technical brilliance, the Cuban Ballet School has trained some of the most well known dancers of today and the late 20th Century.
The creation and administration of the Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami School will be managed by Executive Director, Pedro Pablo Pena and Artistic Director, Magaly Suarez.  The more advanced students of CCBM School will perform with the company in select productions as part of an apprenticeship process that will include attendance at company rehearsals, and participation in pre-production activities preparing students for when they leave the school by exposing them to rigorous training and an understanding of the artistic essence, style and legendary technique, as well as the historic background of the Cuban Classical Ballet.

This endeavor will preserve the style and legacy of the Cuban Classical School by producing new dancers that will come to professional maturity within the ranks of company, providing them with professional assets to make them more desirable in the world of performing arts as artists and teachers.

At the end of 2010, the Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami will open the doors of the company’s new home and school in a beautiful colonial building, the J.W. Warner House, covered in the most important book of Historical Landmark Buildings, Barbalee Diamonstein’s “Remarking America”, to be reborn as the “Miami Hispanic Cultural Arts Center”, The White House of the Ballet. It is centrally located between the Miami River, Downtown and Brickel, easily accessible to the Miami community.

The CCBM school will hold classes from Monday through Saturday, and apply its successful curriculum to achieve the goal of preparing students for a professional career. They will also have the opportunity for comparison through workshops to study other styles and techniques. Miami Dade College will offer scholarships through its tuition assistance program to extend opportunities to students who aspire to a career in the classical performing arts and can demonstrate the promise of excellence. Scholarships will be awarded through an application and audition process managed by ballet staff and MDC advisors.

The Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami is currently collaborating with The Art of Classical Ballet directed by the company’s Co-Artistic Director, Magaly Suárez.
